How To Avoid Christmas Tree Fires

Christmas tree fires completely stress me out. That's one reason why I have artificial trees: because I put my trees up early and keep them up for a long time. A live tree would die in that time, becoming possible kindling!

So how do you prevent Christmas tree fires?

  • Pick a tree that is still alive. If you're cutting one down, cut it 2 inches from the base.
  • Be sure to water it daily once it is in your home.
  • Keep trees at least three feet away from heaters and radiators.
  • When choosing lights to decorate with, don’t buy off-brand ones because they aren’t regulated to safety standards.
  • Don’t leave lights on when you are asleep or not home.

Let's keep it merry and bright and safe this year!
