San Antonio Food Bank Found $20,000! Where's your $$$?

KENS 5 went onto the Texas Comptroller's website and found $20,000 for the San Antonio Food Bank.  Isn't that amazing!?  CEO Eric Cooper thought it might be a joke but he's thrilled!  That amount of money can provide 140,000 meals for those in need!

The website is claimittexas.org and it's basically a bunch of unclaimed funds.  How does that money go "missing," you ask?  According to the state comptroller's office, Texas law institutions, government offices, and businesses must report any property that hasn't been claimed for 5 years.  This can include payroll checks, utility deposits, insurance payouts, escrow accounts and overpayments on bills.

There is currently more than $200,000,000 in unclaimed funds and property in Bexar county alone!  Is some of it yours?

I checked, and there's nothing for me.  Or my husband.  But I found money for two of my best friends!

Look for any money you may be owed!  Go to Texas' Official Unclaimed Property website at claimittexas.org now!

There is no fee for this, but you will be charged a 1.5% 'handling fee' for anything over $100.
